Hulbert Road

A Victorian villa with good bones and a lot of competing woodwork. The brief was a sitting room that worked for reading and for company, without losing the period detail.

Fitted joinery was drawn around the chimney breast, then the whole envelope — walls, bookcases and cupboards — taken to one deep blue so the architecture reads as one piece rather than a set of parts. Warm metals and an oak floor keep it from going cold.
